eCash is a cryptocurrency project that emerged in 2021 following the rebranding of Bitcoin Cash ABC. The network continues to operate using the SHA-256 algorithm, the same algorithm used by Bitcoin. For miners, this means that virtually any ASIC designed for BTC mining can also mine XEC. Depending on market conditions, this can sometimes provide better profitability.

The eCash network difficulty remains significantly lower than Bitcoin’s, while XEC’s price, although still correlated with BTC to some extent, often follows its own market dynamics. As a result, during periods when Bitcoin mining profitability declines, some miners switch their hashpower to eCash in search of higher returns.

Blocks are generated approximately every 10 minutes, just like on the Bitcoin network. However, competition is generally lower. Many modern mining pools support automatic switching between SHA-256 coins, allowing mining equipment to target whichever asset is most profitable at a given time.

Which ASIC Miners Are Suitable for eCash?

The most important factor when choosing mining hardware is energy efficiency. The more hashrate a machine can deliver per watt of power consumed, the greater its potential profitability.

Popular ASIC miners for eCash in 2026:

Antminer S21. The lineup includes the S21, S21 Pro, and S21 XP models. These miners utilize modern chip technology and provide excellent energy efficiency. Depending on the version, hashrate can exceed 200 TH/s.

Antminer S21 Hyd. The hydro-cooled version offers lower noise levels and improved thermal management. In industrial mining operations, the generated heat is often repurposed for heating or industrial applications.

Antminer S19j Pro. Despite being an older model, it remains popular thanks to its balance of affordability, reliability, and performance.

WhatsMiner M60 and M66. Modern SHA-256 miners from MicroBT are also widely used for mining eCash and other SHA-256 cryptocurrencies due to their strong efficiency metrics.

Older-generation miners such as the S17 and early S19 models are gradually becoming obsolete because of their higher power consumption and increasing competition from newer ASIC hardware.

eCash remains an attractive alternative to Bitcoin for miners. The ability to use the same hardware, lower network difficulty, and flexibility to switch between profitable SHA-256 coins make XEC an appealing option for mining diversification.
