Step-by-step instructions HOW to install firmware on S17 / PRO / T17 for overclocking using Oxygear utility
We constantly receive questions about the new firmware on devices such as S17 / PRO / T17 / S9+ and other popular models. In this article, we would like to go through step by step with you to understand, install and configure the firmware on the example of Asika Antminer T17 42T and overclock it to 53-57Tx in the air.
To install Okcare you need :
First, we need to install the OKCARE V 2.1.9.188 utility so that we can download the firmware image to a MicroSD card (Make sure your PC/laptop has a memory card slot or take a card reader. Also, make sure that the card does not exceed 4 GB in memory (there is a possibility that the box will not accept a flash drive with a large capacity), and that it has a slider for write protection.
After inserting our card into the slot and detecting it as a disk on the PC, we can start the procedure.
To install Okcare you need to:
go to the website and register an account. Then, after registration, we will be offered to download the OKCARE utility, download the archive and enter it. We are looking for the file “okcare_setup_v1.0.30.exe” – run it.
Once again, we log in with the created
account and a window opens where we have to click on the gray button on the left (all in Chinese). OKCARE V 2.1.9.188 Desktop version for PC opens.
Let’s get to the program itself.
Click on the Upgrade -make SD card button – Select the media to download the firmware to, and choose the model of the device to download the firmware to. Then confirm and wait a few minutes for the firmware image to be transferred to the card. After that, you will see the message “make over”.
Next, check that the firmware is transferred to the SD card (it will contain several files, an archive and a folder)
Then safely remove the SD card and insert it into the device (T17). We don’t need the Lan cable now, we only plug the power cables into the outlet.
Next, wait about 5 minutes, the box will light up with two indicators all the time. Then unplug the box from the outlet. After that, turn on the Lan cable and plug in the power cables again.
Software installation is complete
The next step is to configure the range extender itself using the Web interface: To find the box in the network, we need to go to: and click on scan network in the upper right corner (there we enter the frequency of our router 192.168.0.1 in our case), find our model of the device in the list and select it.
Next, click on the “frequency setting” icon and select the optimal values for overclocking (in our case, it’s T17 and 900Mhz and 18.2V will be enough for its comfortable operation indoors). You need to choose your own parameters for each router, and at the bottom it will say how much terahzhesh will be output), Confirm.
Make sure that the device has rebooted and wait for it to apply the settings (10-15 minutes).
- If you suddenly see that the chips or boards show a temperature above 100 degrees Celsius after starting it up, then follow the same procedure, but reduce the power and voltage.
- We would also like to draw your attention to the fact that for comfortable operation of the asic, you need not a super small room or closet, and that the temperature in it should be at least room temperature, the lower the better for work…
- If the temperature of the chips shows more than 100 degrees Celsius, then reduce the power and restart the unit completely, because the protection will be activated and the unit will not work.
RESULT: After rebooting, the device operates at 56 cf, which means that we have overclocked it properly, and now it can be put in the bathtub or left in the air, since the power supply unit can withstand such overclocking.
We hope you enjoyed our firmware installation review and that it will be useful for you and your friends. Also, leave your comments with questions below the article, we will be happy to answer everyone! Best regards, AsicFox Team!
