EthereumPoW (ETHW) was launched in 2022 following Ethereum’s transition from Proof-of-Work to Proof-of-Stake. After Ethereum mining officially ended, many owners of Ethash mining equipment were forced to look for alternative networks. EthereumPoW emerged as one of the major projects aimed at preserving the traditional Proof-of-Work model and supporting the existing mining ecosystem.
Initially, the project was promoted as a continuation of the original Ethereum mining experience. Over time, however, the ecosystem became divided among several PoW-based networks, and EthereumPoW adopted the Etchash algorithm, a modified version of Ethash similar to the one used by Ethereum Classic.
ETHW Mining Features
ETHW operates using the Etchash algorithm, which remains compatible with many devices originally designed for Ethereum mining. New blocks are generated approximately every 13 seconds, allowing mining rewards to be distributed frequently.
Mining profitability depends on the market price of ETHW, network difficulty, and electricity costs. Like many cryptocurrencies, ETHW often shows some correlation with Bitcoin and the broader cryptocurrency market.
Today, specialized ASIC miners remain the most effective option for mining ETHW. They provide significantly higher hashrates and better energy efficiency than GPU-based mining systems.
Current ASIC Miners for EthereumPoW
Some of the most widely used ASIC miners for ETHW include:
Antminer E9. One of the most popular miners for Ethash and Etchash algorithms. Suitable for mining both ETHW and ETC.
Antminer E9 Pro. A higher-performance version capable of delivering up to 3.7 GH/s while consuming approximately 2,200W.
Antminer E9 Hydro. A hydro-cooled model that combines high performance with improved thermal management and lower operating noise.
iPollo V1. A popular ASIC mining series designed for Ethash and Etchash algorithms, available in multiple performance configurations.
Innosilicon A10 Pro and A10 Pro+. Proven mining solutions that remain relevant for ETHW mining thanks to their balance of performance and affordability.
Innosilicon A11 Pro ETH. A more advanced model offering higher hashrates while remaining compatible with Ethash and Etchash-based cryptocurrencies.
All of these devices directly support Ethash or Etchash algorithms and can be used to mine EthereumPoW without requiring hardware modifications.
ETHW Mining Outlook
In 2026, EthereumPoW mining profitability is largely determined by hardware efficiency and electricity costs. Although the network is smaller than Ethereum Classic, ETHW continues to maintain an active mining community and remains a viable option for owners of ASIC miners designed for Ethash and Etchash algorithms.
