The Central Bank of Argentina has banned citizens of the country from purchasing various digital currencies, including Bitcoin, using plastic credit cards. It also placed restrictions on their use in several other areas. “It is forbidden to buy weapons and military equipment with this payment method. The only remaining alternative for these investments is to use funds transferred from a bank account,” reads the section on digital currency. It is not yet known whether these restrictions will apply to prepaid and debit cards. The Central Bank of Argentina has recently stated that such measures are necessary to preserve the country’s foreign exchange reserves. By the way, not so long ago, the regulator has already reduced the limit for individuals to purchase any foreign currency. It was necessary to prevent capital outflows from Argentina. This limit jumped from USD 10 thousand to USD 200 per month. Thanks to this approach, the popularity of the first digital currency in the country has grown significantly.
