An airline called Norwegian Air has announced that Norwegians will soon be able to buy airline tickets with Bitcoin. They are also planning to launch their own cryptocurrency exchange.
In August of this year, the Norwegian Block Exchange (NBX) cryptocurrency exchange is to start operating in Norway, and later on, customers of all neighboring countries will have access to it. The exchange will be interesting because it is planned to integrate a special loyalty program called Norwegian Air, which will allow users to earn additional points for trading on this platform and use them to receive discounts on airline tickets.
Stig Kjos-Matthies, the future head of the cryptocurrency exchange in Norway, explained that users will be able to receive special points for trading on NBX, as well as for using the platform’s payment solution to purchase airline tickets.
It is worth noting that Norwegian Air manages an air fleet consisting of 195 aircraft covering about five hundred routes around the world. The new CEO Lars Ola Kjos, the son of the airline’s founder, decided to use digital currencies. By the way, he keeps Bitcoin worth 400 thousand dollars on his account.
