Abdolnaser Hemmati, the governor of the central bank in Iran, has announced that the country’s authorities are planning to legalize cryptocurrency mining. Iran is facing economic problems caused by international sanctions. This leads to the fact that most residents use Bitcoin as a means of accumulation. Not so long ago, Iran carried out considerable trading volumes on the Localbitcoins platform, but after a while, the Finnish company stopped all activities in this country. Thus, the Iranian authorities allegedly specifically fix export prices for people involved in mining. The government is also introducing the mined cryptocurrencies into the “national economic cycle.” Most likely, the authorities are looking at digital currencies as a key option for circumventing sanctions imposed by other countries.
