Dash coin – more details about one of the most popular coins of its time. It was actually founded in 2014 as a Bitcoin fork called Darkcoin, but later its creator Evan Duffield announced that he had originally focused the coin on anonymity and transaction speed. As a result, the coin was renamed Dash (Digital Cash) in 2015, when it became clear that the coin was aiming to become digital cash for everyday payments.

Features of mining on the Dash coin

Dash runs on the X11 algorithm, which combines 11 cryptographic functions. Duffield created it with the intention of protecting against ASIC miners and reducing energy consumption. The paradox is that by 2016, Chinese manufacturers had already released the first ASICs for X11.
The block time on the Dash network is 2.5 minutes — faster than Bitcoin (10 minutes) but slower than DigiByte (15 seconds). The difficulty is recalculated after each block using the DarkGravityWave algorithm. This system prevents sudden spikes in difficulty when large amounts of power are suddenly removed from the network.
The Dash price strongly correlates with Bitcoin. When BTC rises, altcoins usually follow, but with greater volatility.

ASICs specifically designed for Dash (based on the X11 algorithm) are significantly more efficient than alternative equipment. For example, the Antminer D9 delivers 1.77 TH/s while consuming 2839 watts. This gives a ratio of 1.6 joules per gigahash.
The Antminer D7 is still in demand thanks to its balance of price and performance. It delivers 1.286 TH/s while consuming 3.4 kW.
