What is Blake3 algorithm of mining?

The Blake3 algorithm is a hash function, essentially an encryption, that works much faster than other algorithms and has certain features. Unlike other algorithms that process data sequentially, Blake3 breaks information into 1 KB “batches” and hashes them in parallel with each other.
The algorithm uses only 7 sequential iterations of calculations instead of 10, as in the previous version of the algorithm, while maintaining the same level of security.

What is interesting about the algorithm?

The Blake3 algorithm is mainly used to mine ALPH coins. At one time, it was one of the most profitable and popular coins. The block creation time in the Alephium network is about 64 seconds thanks to BlockFlow technology — a system of several parallel chains. The difficulty is adjusted every 24 hours.
The ALPH rate shows a weak dependence on Bitcoin. This means that when the entire market falls, Alephium can behave more independently.

Blake3 attracts miners for several reasons:

    • High energy efficiency. Less electricity is consumed per unit of hashrate than with SHA-256.
    • A relatively new ecosystem means less competition and higher profitability.
    • Parallel data processing allows miners to make effective use of modern equipment.

    Specialized ASICs for Blake3

Goldshell E-AL1M is the only specialized miner for Blake3 from an independent manufacturer. This Blake3 miner outputs about 4.4 TH/s (the hash rate always fluctuates depending on the load) while consuming about 1800 watts, resulting in an efficiency of 409/1 hash rate. The main feature is a low noise level of only 45 dB, which allows you to keep it at home without discomfort.
The device has two operating modes: standard for maximum performance and energy-saving for silent mining, which allows you to reduce noise and use it as a home miner.
The leaders among models of different brands using this algorithm are, for example, Antminer AL1 and AL1 Pro from Bitmain. AL1 has a hash rate of 15.6 TH/s, while the more powerful AL1 Pro version delivers 16.6 TH/s. These miners are a more productive solution compared to Goldshell, but they also cost more.
